of a mangled lotus and mangy pets: BJP Karnataka

"A lotus is born in dirty water, it grows on dirty water but rises out of dirty water to stand above it unsoiled..."

It is all dirty business for BJP in Karnataka. For long it has been raising venomous pets that were let loose for any thing that would further it political-stay in the state.

But what  happens when you have literally spoiled your pet? Well, then you have a rowdy Muthalik or a tantrum-wielding spoiled Reddy on your throat.

The BJP government that stormed to victory like a proud mustang, today stands more like a shriveled lotus surrounded by mangy dogs. Even the 'yours-truly' saffron loving small-time admirers have  given up on the  government.

"BJP in Karnataka is like another government," a BJP supporting friend remarked recently. On being pressed on what does he mean, he explained, "They are just trying to stay in power,  the ideology is no  more important and they are behaving just like the others (JD(S)/Congress)."

In short, he realised that  BJP too was just another political party cashing in on the deep-long rooted hatred. Of course, he never said it loud.

How helpless and shackled the BJP government in Karnataka is? The Yeddy government, which was quick to book charges against the sleazy Nithyananda, grew cold feet when Tehelka's Rent-a-Riot expose on Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik hit the news.

BJP gave Muthalik a free run in the state-- A barking dog that bit when it was ordered to and such dogs go rabid, when shackled and they never go down without taking you along.

So that very much explains the government's stance on the matter. "The government has no official stand(but they have an unofficial stand) on this issue," Yeddy was quoted by the newspapers.

But can you expect BJP have a stand on the issue? You don't throw stones at your own 'mangy pet.' Do you?

So its conclusive that government is not going to do anything about it and since time has a way of making  us forget things, Muthalik's 'bare act' also would  be forgotten.

But can it  be forgiven?

First it were Reddy's, then romped Halappa  and now Muthalik- together they would bring this government on its knees.

The Lotus in Karnataka is mangled, it grew on the dirt but it forgot to stand straight, it stooped too low, with the dirt.

children of a lesser god...

Picture used without permission from TOI - Bangalore Times

Is it ok, to put children from lower economic families on display for a ten buck beauty pageant? Is this really promoting a social cause? I found it disturbing...

War is a drug: The Hurt Locker

Just finished watching: The Hurt Locker. It certainly is another great addition to the war movies, but once again helps us in redefining the idea of a War.

The opening statement in itself is best:

The Rush of battle is often a potent and lethal addiction, for war is a drug

Most dialogues is engaging and perfect from beginning to end. Here is one:

Spc. Owen Eldridge: Aren't you glad the Army has all these tanks parked here? Just in case the Russians come and we have to have a big tank battle?
Sergeant JT Sanborn: I'd rather be on the side with the tanks, just in case, than not have them.
Spc. Owen Eldridge: Yeah, but they don't do anything. I mean, anyone comes alongside a Humvee, we're dead. Anybody even looks at you funny, we're dead. Pretty much the bottom line is, if you're in Iraq, you're dead. How's a fucking tank supposed to stop that?
Sergeant JT Sanborn: Would you shut the fuck up, Owen?
Spc. Owen Eldridge: Sorry. Just tryin' to scare the new guy.

A fire. All smoke but Bangalore Cares!

The mishap at the Carlton Towers on Tuesday claimed lives, injured many and this blog mourns over everything that went wrong.

But this one small incidence also taught me personally that people do care. There was goodwill, there was bravery and there were prayers.

Some of those stuck in the building bravely kept tweeting about the incidence while assuaging their loved ones. The entire blogosphere turned its attention to the Carlton Towers, hoping for the safety for those stuck. A few even started circulating helpline numbers, whereas others gave directions to commuters to take different routes.

And as the news channels repeatedly started showing the clippings of the victims jumping off from the building once again, they turned to the twitters and other tools for broadcasting their disgust. Many even drew points against the fire safety measures, including the fire department- which even this blog agrees needs way better training and technology.

But in all this and much more, lets stay united.

These Blasts Won't Bow Us Down: Tribute to the Victims

It is unfortunate that lives have been lost. But they will be lost, till the time there are people, who undervalue others life.

Nine people, including five women were killed in the incident, while many were injured. The nation once came to a stand still, and watched in despair.

As Shashi Tharoor said in his Tweet msg: "Pune blasts still need2b investigated. But we must stand up &say we will not be terrorized. Not a time for blame game.Stay united &determined"

This blog pays its tribute to the dead and their grieving families.

Exactly an year after: Bomb blast rocks Pune, 9 killed

A year back on February 17 in a failed attempt, the terrorists had tried to blow up a bus using gelatine sticks. But this time nine have been confirmed dead.

According to the state police and Intelligence Bureau a bomb blast took place at a bakery in Pune. An unattended package was spotted by one of the waiters at the bakery who tried to open the bag when it exploded. Till now eight people are confirmed dead," said Union Home Secretary GK Pillai.

He also said that Lashkar-e-Toiba operative David Coleman Headley, who is under the custody of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States of America, had surveyed the area including Osho Ashram.

A team of National Investigating Agency (NIA) and forensic experts of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to assist the investigations into the German Bakery blast in Pune.

Paid News: Media Moral Hawaldars Worry EC too!

The self-declared band of moral-Media (press conduct) hawaldars are going firm on the 'corrupt' scribes..uuuhhh!!

The Report says "The Editors Guild’s has urged the Election Commission to take strong action against both candidates and media persons who violate the disclosure norms of election expenditure in
regard to media publicity."

"A delegation from the Guild, led by guild president Rajdeep Sardesai(of all people), submitted a memorandum to the commission."

Sardesai said this dangerous trend threatened the foundations of journalism by eroding public faith in the credibility and impartiality of news reporting.(this guys never stops talking...ha).

In the report: Chawla (Chief Election Commissioner)acknowledged that the commission has already received several complaints on theissue of paid news. One grievance was that candidates sometimes got blacked out by unscrupulous publications, unless they paid up. Others complained that well heeled candidates who could pay the corrupt media get write ups in their favour. (yes, they are talkin about U..ho, well times are chaging ;)

Read the Editor's Guild report PDF.

Well the under-paid journos are doing it and why won't they.

How come God's Not Funny? Why is there is no tolerance in religion?

Intolerance is gaining ground.  We are losing out against the simple Right to Expression/Right to Speech. A virtually unknown newspaper the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten publishes a cartoon. Millions of Muslims around the world, who had never seen the caricatures, stage protests against an insult to the prophet demanding the appropriate punishment for the offenders- Death.
While the  big brother Osama went on to issue a Fatwa. What is the world coming to, a sane mind will ask? But the question itself has so often been asked that it has just become an empty rhetoric.
Muslims certainly lead the race is expressing their angst with blood. But Christians too are not far behind, in crying “this hurts sentiments.”
But in the end is it all not religious intolerance, as the religion is not able to tolerate what other people have to say about the religion. Religion can condemn and even brand- say  Infidel. Then why not art, literature or a speech, be able to poke fun at a religion.
I wish there would be more cartoons, more caricatures, poking fun at every religion. It’s time that they saw things without their veils.
It won’t be wrong to say that today religion is eating into the entire fibre of a free world. Satire, pun, jokes and sarcasm aren’t they a right as well.
Then why suppress it?

Former Pak Chief along with Indian Stars, promotes Girl Child cause: Goof-up India

Leaving red faces in the government, an official advertisement by the ministry of women and child development(WCD) against female foeticide, which appeared in newspapers on Sunday, carried the photograph of a former Pakistan Air Force chief.(courtesy: Financial Express).

The idea was to have Indian heroes promote the cause, but in a major blunder we had the former Pak Air Force chief Anvir Ahmed, instead of Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal PV Naik.

Former Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major told this reporter: "It was sheer negligence and a major goof-up, that goes on to show how less the people (including those in power) understand their own armed forces." The uniforms, insignia, crest, roundel and even colour pattern of uniforms are different.

A brilliant comedy of errors that we along with the rest of world can laugh on, but its a shame and an embarrassment at the time.

However, in all this The Third Eye says: It is a conspiracy, to embarrass the country. Fingers but point to China as the possible hand. In all but speculations. :)

Faking News Exposé: Amar Singh Missing!! But Found In Tears!

                                                                                                                                                 Courtesy: Faking News
Sulky Amar Singh, former (read I'll Be Back) Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, who quit from all organisational posts, was found shedding rivers of tears over the remark by Ram Gopal Yadav that he has "lost his mental balance".

The Chandini Bar maître d  Sanju Bava later found Amar Singh(a BIG B fan) in an inebriated  in Men's toilet acting out the drunk scene from Amar Akbhar Anthony before the mirror. It seems Mr Singh told maître d  Sanju Bava that he would now like take up acting instead of politics. Though we still have not been able to verify how true the report is as the hunt is still on to find the missing Amar.

While among industry gossip-mongers it is also being rumoured that the former SP chief would be appearing in Mumbai soon, to meet cine star Ayesha Takia's father-in-law (Shiv Sena's favorite punching bag) to chalk out plans for a movie with Ayesha as his lead star and Sanjay Dutt as the ever-green Villain, while Amar would make his virgin venture as the male-lead in the movie.

In all this and much more, the Party may have shunned Amar Singh, but in Hollywood or in Politics, nobody plays it like Amar--King Size!! Faking it of course!!
